"Rīgas satiksme" reminds: as of February 1 passengers will get on public transport vehicles through front doors only also on trolleybus route No. 13 and bus routes No. 34, 35, 43, 47 and 54
Given the positive results of the project, in which passengers get on public transport through front doors and off through middle and rear doors, as of February 1 such order will be also introduced on trolleybus route No. 13 and bus routes No. 34, 35, 43, 47 and 54.
We remind that as of January 1, 2020 such order was introduced as permanent on trolleybus route No. 1 and bus routes No. 10, 20, 28 and 60. The pilot project, which was launched on July 8, 2019, aimed to achieve a 15 % increase in the number of registered trips on the above public transport routes, yet the results showed an increase of more than 20%.
The goal of the project was also to change passengers’ habits so that they register every trip, to reduce the number of fare dodgers, as well as to count precisely the number of passengers as required by laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia. The introduction of such order also helps to reduce the number of passengers in smeary and stinking clothes.
“Rīgas satiksme” reminds that on the above routes passengers have to register their trip at the driver’s console so that the driver could check that everybody registers his/her trip. The order does not change for passengers with baby carriages and in wheelchairs – they get on public transport through middle doors.
